2025

2025 is the most eclectic mishmash of my songs to this point. From reflective to goofy to (hopefully) slice of life...

Thanks for listening to, purchasing, downloading earlier projects, and spreading the word in support of local music! ~Kevin

The Songs

Wherever You Go

(Bader, Wijnhorst) SOCAN

My friend Joyce and I co-wrote this special song. It is a reminder that though some people leave us, they sometimes remind us (in curious ways) that they're still around.

I’ve been trying to show you that my spirit          is forever
Looks like you’re starting to understand
Can you feel me guiding you? I thought I’ve been quite clever
You gotta keep me going, gotta give me a hand

And I will always love you
I will always care
I will fly beside you
I’ll always be wherever you go, wherever you go
Wherever you go, wherever you go

I know that there’ll be days when you feel          it’s all over
I know it pains without me “there” there
Remember how good we were, hold on to those moments
You still have our love, take it with you everywhere

And I will always love you
I will always care
I will fly beside you
I’ll always be wherever you go, wherever you go
Wherever you go, wherever you go

Meant to be Together

(Bader) SOCAN

This is the love story of my friends Chrissy and Wayne. It's a late wedding present :)

We met when we were young, much too much it seems
If the story ended there at least we would have learned something
We didn’t know
We were driving down a road and driven away
Driven away

From the start, years apart made me who I am
Ups and downs, town to towns, raising a family
It was many years full of good times
and sometimes tears

We weren’t meant to be together
We had gone so far away
On a road but not together
I was driving down that road my own way

There I was, where were you? Sometimes I wondered about it all
You gotta try, she cried, telling me to call
I saw you, I’ve missed you. Hold me in your arms, don’t go away
Don’t go away

We talked, we cried, we laughed, working through the past:
the ups and downs, the town to towns, and why it didn’t last
Now here we are, standing like
we haven’t ever been apart

We were meant to be together
It ‘s been so long apart
Our hearts were pulled together
And I promise you
We were meant to be together
Everything is lining up just so...
Ya, meant to be together
Now we’re driving the same road
That’s how this story goes
Traveling down the road

Cowboy Fool

(Bader) SOCAN

I wrote this song in 2019 and have performed it several times as part of Rob Dinwoodie's Cowboy Show. My character, Diamond Kevin, explains his learning journey!

I didn’t know a thing about a cowboy’s life
So I sat down and Googled it one day,
I found poems and songs, and old pictures, and all of it
Professin’ to show me the way.
Wikipedia says a cowboy needs a horse,
Google says Jesse was cool
Well I can’t afford a ranch, and I don’t have a gun,
So for now, I’m just a cowboy fool.

Maybe cowboy is found in the things that you wear,
From the 10-gallon hat to yer boots.
Well I could spend money in a Cowboy Store
And I don’t have to know how to shoot.
But the hat, would I be judged if it was white or black
Should I tip it up or down as a rule?
And the boots would they flare up my sciatic nerve?
Ah for now, I’m just a cowboy fool.

Maybe cowboy is found in the things that you know,
The knowledge from Ken Mather’s books
I could study each page of the cowboyin’ days
And I wouldn’t be judged by my looks.

I’d know rustlers, and doggies, chaps and lariets
Things they don’t teach you in school.
But I’m willing to bet that I’d likely forget,
So for now, I’m just a cowboy fool.

Maybe cowboy is not in the things that you wear,
The shootin’ or the ridin’ or the knowin’.
Maybe cowboy is how you take pride in your work,
More about living right, not just showin’.

Loving the stars, the wind, the sun,
Mindin’ the Golden Rule.
So after all of this thinkin’, I know this is true,
It’s a little bit about what you think,
and it’s a lot about all the good things you do.

Some of the Way

(Bader) SOCAN

Written in the spring of 2023, this is a song of overcoming and hope. Recovery comes in many contexts and often represents a lifetime of staying on top if it.

Hello darkness, looks like you’ve made yourself at home
Didn’t hear you knocking, there was so much noise going on
You’ve had your way, I didn’t seem to matter at all
Had to feel my way, using the bumps to scare me along
You left me stranded, hoping my chances were slim
But I made it some of the way
Yes I made it some of the way

Hello darkness, looks like you didn’t get enough
You must be lonely, who was I to only think of myself
I played your game, but I really don’t like the rules
You stole my summer, made it winter all year long
I’ve stayed the same and I’ve even fallen behind
But I made it some of the way
Yes I made it some of the way

Hello darkness, I’m letting our little secret out
I hear you knocking, but I’ve got angels guarding me from doubts
You’ve had your way, and you know this matters more
I’m making my way, I couldn’t do this on my own
I’m leaving you stranded, I never want to go there again
Cuz I made it some of the way
Yes I made it some of the way
I made it some of the way
